How to put an office outfit together
The suit stopped being the office default, and nothing formally replaced it, which is why most men now overthink a Tuesday. The looks on this page work from a simpler rule: trousers with a real waistband, a shirt or fine knit with some substance, and a leather shoe. Everything else is optional.
An unstructured blazer in wool, cotton or linen is the single most useful thing in a modern office wardrobe, because it turns two casual pieces into a considered outfit and comes off the moment the room relaxes. Shirts without a tie need a collar with enough body to stand on its own. Keep to navy, grey, olive, cream and one brown, and the whole wardrobe starts interchanging by itself.

What is business casual for men?
Tailored or chino trousers, a collared shirt or a fine knit, and a leather shoe. A blazer is welcome but not required, a tie is not expected, and jeans sit right at the edge: acceptable in most offices if dark and straight, not acceptable if faded or distressed.
Can you wear sneakers to the office?
A minimal leather sneaker in white, black or a muted tone works in most offices that have dropped the dress code, provided it is clean and worn with tailored trousers rather than jeans. A running or technical trainer still reads as gym kit no matter what is above it.
Do you still need a suit?
One, for interviews, weddings and the occasional client meeting where the room will be wearing them. For everyday work, separates are more useful: a blazer and trousers that do not match can be split into two outfits, and a suit cannot.
