How to put a travel outfit together
A travel outfit has one job that no other outfit has: it has to still look like an outfit after six hours of sitting in it. That rules out most linen, all stiff tailoring and anything with a waistband that only works standing up.
What survives is jersey with some weight, wool that is fine enough to breathe, and cotton blends that do not crease. Build it in layers, because the temperature changes three times between the taxi and the gate: a long knit or a soft blazer over a simple base, a wide trouser with a soft waistband, and a shoe you can take off at security without a performance. A large flat-bottomed bag does more for a travel day than any other piece.

What fabrics do not crease when travelling?
Fine merino, ponte and heavier jersey, wool blends, and most cotton mixed with elastane. Pure linen and untreated cotton poplin crease within the first hour. If you want a linen look on a travel day, choose a linen blend rather than the real thing.
How do you look good in an airport without being uncomfortable?
Keep the shapes relaxed and the colours tight. A cream knit, a camel coat and a navy trouser look deliberate together and are all soft. It is the colour discipline that reads as put together, not the structure of the clothes.
